How should we approach a CRM RFP?

RFP's are the best way to start a CRM project, right? Not quite...

How should I write a CRM RFP? In short - you probably shouldn't. An RFP causes you to come up with a list of things you think you want, without having an expert guide you as to how you can get the best out of a new CRM system.

Sometimes you don't even need a new system. You just need somebody to show you how to use your current one!

It is very hard for an RFP to focus on project outcomes as the sstructure leads quickly towards individual requirements or needs. RFPs also tend to get organisational silos to be put on full show: "Our team needs XYZ, even if another team needs ABC". This is not how you should start your important project!

As we've discussed previously, choosing a good partner is critical for the success of your project. In fact, we'd go as far as to say it's more important than having a solid RFP.

So what do you do instead of writing that long RFP? Get Your CRM Coach to help find a good partner or vendor and then let that vendor do what they do best: work with you side-by-side to find the best way to select and use a new system.
